Safe Schools and Community Child-Protection Committees, Zimbabwe

Strengthens the people around each child: school safeguarding leads, community child-protection committees and trained parents who know the signs, the reporting route and how to respond kindly. It is the human backbone of the Technology for Child Safety system.

Problem to solve

Many schools and villages have no trained safeguarding lead or working committee, so signs of abuse go unrecognised and children do not know who to tell.

What the evidence says

If 62% of child-abuse attacks happen in homes, as a June 2026 Newsday report headlines, prevention must reach parents and neighbours as well as classrooms.

Expected outcome

A trained safeguarding lead and an active committee in every project school and village, with a written referral map.

Target population

Teachers and headteachers, community committee members, parents and caregivers, and children in 25 schools.

5,000 people targeted
