Who We Are

A trust built on the belief that when communities are connected, skilled and safe, they thrive.

Takura Trust is a registered development trust working in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Through six programmes — AI for Development, Harvest of Hope, SafeChild, NURA, Africa Experiences and Sustainable Livelihoods — we fight poverty with technology, skills, livelihoods and child protection.

Our Foundation

Not a single project. A connected set of programmes.

Poverty is rarely one problem. A family with no internet is cut off from jobs and information. A young person in recovery needs a livelihood, not only treatment. A child at risk needs protection systems and a community that knows how to use them. A harvester needs a fair market. So we work through six programmes that reinforce one another.

AI for Development brings connectivity and accelerated skills to poor communities so that they can reach online opportunities and jobs — and reduces the risks of being left offline. Harvest of Hope runs farm-based rehabilitation. SafeChild uses technology to keep children safe. NURA builds fair value chains from amarula and baobab. Africa Experiences brings tourism home and builds profitable business networks. Sustainable Livelihoods grows tank-based fish farming.

Each programme is delivered through concrete projects in Zimbabwe and Mozambique — every one with a budget, a start and end date, indicators, and a verification matrix that shows how each result will be checked.

What We Do

Six programmes, twenty-four projects.

Every programme has at least four projects — two in Zimbabwe and two in Mozambique — planned for 2027 with published budgets and indicators.

🌐

AI for Development Programme

Connectivity and accelerated skills that lead to online opportunities and jobs

Supports poor communities with connectivity and accelerated digital, AI, robotics and manufacturing skills that lead to online opportunities and jobs — while reducing the risks that come with having no connectivity at all: exclusion from information, services, markets and safety.

Harvest of Hope Recovery Programme

A farm-based therapeutic community

Farm-based rehabilitation that combines clinical and psychosocial care with agricultural training, so every graduate leaves with both recovery and a livelihood.

🛡️

SafeChild Community Protection Programme

Technology for child safety

Uses technology, trained community structures and multi-agency cooperation so that every child protection report reaches every agency that needs it — Police, Social Welfare, Schools, Health and NGOs.

🌿

NURA Sustainable Harvest Programme

Community-anchored natural product value chains

Organises the annual, ongoing harvest of Amarula (marula) and baobab fruit with the communities who live beside the trees — fair prices, digital receipts and 10% of net profit returned to harvesting communities.

4 projects · US$945K →

Africa Experiences — Community Tourism Programme

Bringing tourism home and building profitable business networks

Builds community-owned tourism and profitable business networks — homestays, guides, crafts, food and eTourism storefronts — so that tourism income stays in the communities that host the visitors.

Sustainable Livelihoods Programme

Tank-based fish farming that feeds families and builds incomes

Establishes tank-based fish farming with households, youth and women, from training and tanks to feed, markets and cold chain — a reliable source of protein and income that does not depend on rain or land size.

How We Work

Principles that guide every decision.

Four principles run through all our work — not as slogans, but as structural commitments built into how our programmes operate.

🔍

Evidence-driven

Every project has indicators and a deliverables verification matrix. We do not rely on self-reported impact figures — registers, ledgers, inspection certificates and independent checks produce the evidence.

🤝

Integrate, not compete

Our child-safety work is designed to connect existing police, health, school and social-welfare services, not replace them. We add infrastructure and skills; we do not duplicate effort.

🌱

Sequence deliberately

We do not launch everything at once. Each programme is phased so that early results guide the next stage, and lessons from one country inform the other.

📋

Transparent about gaps

Where source data is incomplete or outcomes are illustrative, we say so. Donors deserve to know what is confirmed and what is a projection.
