Establishes a pilot farm-based therapeutic community in Sofala for young people recovering from substance dependency, combining clinical and psychosocial care with agricultural training, and drawing on lessons from the BICA farm in Binga. Farm space is still being identified: donors are invited to help fund the land, the first buildings and the first residents' places, and landowners and authorities to propose suitable sites. The pilot is designed for 25-50 residents.
Young people in central Mozambique who develop substance dependency have very few specialist treatment options, and families often turn to the police or traditional healers with no route to lasting recovery or work.
Mozambique is no longer only a transit country for drugs: AFP reported on 25 September 2026 that drug-related hospital admissions rose 38% to more than 32,280 in the previous year, with cannabis, crack, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl all in circulation, and a UN drugs office official describing the increase as "steady and continuous". Reliable data on treatment capacity in Sofala itself is scarce, so a needs assessment in the first quarter of 2028 will set the baseline before any resident is admitted.
A licensed, staffed pilot farm with its first residents in recovery, Portuguese-language materials, and referral links with provincial health and social-action services.
Young people (mostly 15–35) recovering from substance dependency, their families, and agricultural trainees from nearby communities in Sofala.
